Nuts + Seeds | D.I.Y Butter for Dogs!

NI scream, YOU scream, we ALL scream for… Peanut Butter?

A common favorite amongst are canine homies, Peanut Butter is not only a great source of Protein and Heart Healthy Fats, but it also contains Vitamin E and Vitamin B3 (Niacin).  Being that Raw, UnSalted Peanut Butter is best, we have stumbled upon a RAWRsome D.I.Y Nut Butter recipe (salt is optional!) that not just includes NUTS, but Nutrient packed SEEDS as well (i.e. Flaxseed).  We also like the fact that this D.I.Y encourages creativity that both you and your canine homie can appreciate, like, using coconut oil or adding honey or baking spices…cinnamon, or even herbs and spices…rosemary.  You can even combine tha NUTS and SEEDS (I’m Super Excited Right Now)!

CAUTION: Not all of the Nuts shown are suitable for Dogs!

DOG-GONE-BAD: Macadamia Nuts, Pecans, Pistachio’s, Walnuts

DOG-GONE-GOOD: Hazelnuts, Peanuts, Almonds, Cashew, Pine Nuts, Sunflower Seeds, Flaxseeds, Sesame Seeds, Pepita (Pumpkin seeds)

As with any treat, even with us humans, MODERATION IS KEY! Make a Special Quick Snack for you and your canine homie by dipping pieces of apple in your newly made butta!

  1. Thanks for clarifying which nuts are good or bad for dogs. I didn’t realize that pecans and walnuts were bad news. I can’t wait to try this! I think Bonnee would enjoy some peanut butter made especially for her. 🙂
